AUSTRALIA SKILLED WORKER VISA - SUBCLASS 491

To apply for a Subclass 491 visa, the applicant must satisfy the following requirements:

1. Occupation

The applicant’s occupation must appear on the relevant skilled occupation list for the Australia 491 visa.

2. Skills Assessment

Applicants must obtain a positive skills assessment from their relevant skill-assessing authority for their nominated occupation.

3. Points Test

The applicant must achieve a minimum score of 65 points on the Skilled Migration Points Test. Points are allocated based on applicants:

Applicant Work Experience

English Proficiency

Australian Study

Spouse Skills

Spouse’s English proficiency

Regional Study

Nomination or Sponsorship (15 points extra)

4. Nomination or Sponsorship

Applicant must be nominated by a state or territory authority. or

The applicant must be supported by a qualifying eligible family member who is living in a designated regional location in Australia.

5. English Proficiency

The applicant must prove their competency in English. I.e., applicants must score a minimum of 6 in each module of IELTS to be eligible. To get English proficiency points, the applicant must score better marks.

6. Age Limit

The applicant must be below 45 years of age at the time of invitation. The younger the applicant’s age, the more points they get.
