Some attractive places in Australia worth to see

New South Wales

New South Wales has extensive areas of forested national parks along the spine of the Great Dividing Range. The Blue Mountains World Heritage Area just west of Sydney is the most famous, with its deep green chasms, vertiginous rock formation and caves with extraordinary stalactites and stalagmites. Other beautiful forested areas are Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park just north of Sydney, and Barrington Tops National Park further north, which harbors an extraordinary array of wildlife.

New South Wales’ coast is peppered with beautiful coves, harbors and beaches. While some have developed into resorts with innumerable possibilities to experience the area from land, sea or air; many are only visited by local anglers and surfers.

Victoria’s national parks include Wilsons Promontory, Croajingolong and the Otway coastal parks, and the inland reserves of the Grampians and the High Country. Wilsons Promontory is particularly popular with animal watchers and walkers, with over 80 km (50 miles) of marked walking tracks. The five- kilometer (three-mile) Lilly Pilly Gully Trail passes through bushland and lush pockets of temperate rainforest with spectacular old tree ferns. Other walks follow coastal cliffs and cut through salt marshes, perfect for bird watchers.

At the other end of the country, Tasmania’s Cradle Mountain is rated as one of the great walking areas in the world. The six-day Overland Track, for the fit, takes hikers past jagged peaks, through heat and dense beech forests, across high alpine moorlands and over fast-flowing streams. There are catered tours run by experienced guides and outfitters; try Cradle Huts (03) 6260 4094. The best part of this trip is that hikers are only expected to carry a light backpack with sleeping bag, lunch, and the bare minimum of clothes. Accommodation is provided in comfortable cabins along the route, which are well-stocked with food and complete with hot and cold running water, showers and toilets. Walking the track without a guide is much cheaper, but you need to carry tents, plenty of warm clothes and enough food for the whole trip. You should report to the ranger’s office before you leave, and beware of unpredictable weather. There are also easy day-trips from cradle Mountain Lodge or Lake St. Clair.
